Arrived at the entrance gates around 10:00 am. First thing I did was to show my pre-purchased ticket online and they just scanned the ticket barcode to let me in. It was a cold windy day so anything to get out of the open air was a welcome relief. Lots of different areas to explore until I settled on a spot to sketch the "Mons Meg" siege cannon near the St. Margaret's Chapel. It was a good strategy to hang around there to have a nice view of the One o' clock cannon firing. </p><p>I got some quick sketches done in areas where no photography was allowed. When I did the Crown Jewels of Scotland (Crown, Scepter, Sword and Stone) visit in one of the buildings, I was asked what I was doing and what I was using and even checked the annotated notes on my sketchbook before I exited that room.</p><p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; Got off at St. Andrew Square and walked my way toward the Aparthotel Adagio on High Street. The one beautiful street I saw on video clips many times before (Jeffrey Street) came into view. I was very much in awe to see it in real life! After the hotel check-in, I rested a bit before heading out to the 6:00 PM Thursday evening sketch meet-up at The Scotsman Hotel with the Edinburgh Urban Sketchers. It was a short 8 minute walk to the location from the hotel.<div><br /><div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNG88h9D6SN1s0btghUGBzG-33RjeV_pNCCN0elppjH9TLakbEJOZX0D1TthIX1LFE-wC0wBlGQEhGDYGZyIXrlk-2qEnxyE_q2bCayW7JElXSs_Cqzsv-w-2mYkvhmiukuTbr07zuTL1ilPK7qnPKbqsmau8tXfrPQVclYHOueTagdpLEVYqK4XANSC2u/s4032/IMG_2457.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNG88h9D6SN1s0btghUGBzG-33RjeV_pNCCN0elppjH9TLakbEJOZX0D1TthIX1LFE-wC0wBlGQEhGDYGZyIXrlk-2qEnxyE_q2bCayW7JElXSs_Cqzsv-w-2mYkvhmiukuTbr07zuTL1ilPK7qnPKbqsmau8tXfrPQVclYHOueTagdpLEVYqK4XANSC2u/s320/IMG_2457.HEIC" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Edinburgh arrival. They were very nice to accommodate me without a prior appointment. They had booked several jobs for the day but due to the snowy weather on Tuesday, only one have shown up when I got there. I asked if I could just wait until they finish the job, not to rush them. I just wanted to peek into the vision window and get a nice sketch of the repair bay area. The red-painted tire machine caught my attention so I started the sketch from there. That upper right corner was the rear under pinning of my car. Once Benny got into the scene, I had to add him in as he worked on the other car. The office manager checked me out, curious at what I was doing. Soon, Alex finished working on my car. Before I left the shop, I showed the sketch to Alex and Benny. They both liked it.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivVPKIExHv0POIVTe-8t0lLhS_a3l1mVZot_mmNKf1QfG4DKqPl0kukrj1mbN8g-a_cQxXHk1slwdxZh0HAgBofLMmWLaO2WsfesXxPwOqD6qOElU2qD3brOMmXkLwg0r9KWQLJFFjTaTcYqmQ45KCB47jDVWheBVuKkE-QcPd7y_Zsdji1BYqFT_a9uVQ/s4032/IMG_2307.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivVPKIExHv0POIVTe-8t0lLhS_a3l1mVZot_mmNKf1QfG4DKqPl0kukrj1mbN8g-a_cQxXHk1slwdxZh0HAgBofLMmWLaO2WsfesXxPwOqD6qOElU2qD3brOMmXkLwg0r9KWQLJFFjTaTcYqmQ45KCB47jDVWheBVuKkE-QcPd7y_Zsdji1BYqFT_a9uVQ/w300-h400/IMG_2307.HEIC" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03817098869249359344noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592717302897800561.post-85289027108361955912024-02-13T19:39:00.000-08:002024-02-13T19:39:14.063-08:00The Whitney Museum VisitI signed up for the free entrance to the Whitney Museum on 2nd Sunday of the month. We were there last weekend and it was interesting to see the exhibit, Harold Cohen: AARON, on the 8th Floor. This was about his drawing machine, AARON, the earliest Artificial Intelligence program for art making. <div><br /></div><div>We took the balcony stairs exit going down to the 7th floor where the views of the meat packing district structures are just amazing. Soon, I settled on sketching this sculpture and capturing the process on video with my new toy, Insta360 GO3. At the last minute, a photographer walked by and started taking pictures of the sculpture. I had to include him on my sketch! BTW, I took the Kaweco Sport Brass FP for a sketch practice but found it less versatile than my favorite Zebra F701 ballpoint pen. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJPr4hpcfJw-K6DaZZCTw7j_qhtc6tFSQ0N7lFJOu6QzglSRBOu_-6NPJ8JWj7TWI0pSj9SOYtTUA-htt3jVuxeGxeZIzL6hgxM9E5bUGM9RYZsPcLUyKk2J0ypg7ceswf-88ywqZh8qxl5nyl3GINpcYBNNh860yOGAS6NTYc76AtpzI0pNdVxwTeehZs/s4032/IMG_2275.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJPr4hpcfJw-K6DaZZCTw7j_qhtc6tFSQ0N7lFJOu6QzglSRBOu_-6NPJ8JWj7TWI0pSj9SOYtTUA-htt3jVuxeGxeZIzL6hgxM9E5bUGM9RYZsPcLUyKk2J0ypg7ceswf-88ywqZh8qxl5nyl3GINpcYBNNh860yOGAS6NTYc76AtpzI0pNdVxwTeehZs/w300-h400/IMG_2275.HEIC" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwo8UeycQ1I7S6XbJHMXL5Bsq_JOTTf-nATlNQ1JJKRg2TJzRWPwx60PD_SBNQt179a9GbLfYxDEbBSebTxwM_i0nXSesxoYZM_AYH9GvXZbiqJFkuCKzPCRq1g2fIfNoTGAHkPdt6aITWDYU1vFRyI3jTooypBQBRcwuXk8tQ5ZQzogUrGihqxF776GJg/s3024/IMG_2316.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwo8UeycQ1I7S6XbJHMXL5Bsq_JOTTf-nATlNQ1JJKRg2TJzRWPwx60PD_SBNQt179a9GbLfYxDEbBSebTxwM_i0nXSesxoYZM_AYH9GvXZbiqJFkuCKzPCRq1g2fIfNoTGAHkPdt6aITWDYU1vFRyI3jTooypBQBRcwuXk8tQ5ZQzogUrGihqxF776GJg/w400-h400/IMG_2316.heic" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dyEF1OXkvAtTE8zPVr4r6cKQeyk--ikgOYs88kU1EtNpLuEVMUVcJYvgSOJGc8JiJNHtLNw646q1IJD7CujEQ' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><br />Melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03817098869249359344noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592717302897800561.post-47171835806296185412024-02-11T19:21:00.000-08:002024-02-11T19:21:41.846-08:00The Blue Whale at the AMNH<p>Last weekend's sketch-meet was at the American Museum of Natural History. It's one of the interesting museums to visit in the city. At first, I parked myself in the North American Mammals Exhibit but it was too dark to work there on my blue tint pre-marked page. Soon, I found my way to the Ocean Life Exhibit where I tried sketching the Blue Whale hanging from the ceiling until it was lunch break with the group at the food hall. Later, I came back to the same spot in the hall and continued working on the sketch with a Posca white brush pen that was running out of ink. I kept pumping the pen for more ink flow to the brush but it was slow and semi-dry. However, I managed to lay down some ink on where it matters most on the paper. One pump too many and it dripped a blob on the paper. Luckily, it landed at where I wanted it to happen. That became the alcove on the far right side. A happy accident! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx8ZK4D3zHQjNNwjmKNynovMoSOGcrqwn71mMNdbGVM27l2twP7hFYwUQJq5OwxUME4IMNCZISysf-QdUDLtr7JKi1n-fEZe-oKwFSQOXeRP5oc0-1rtAXHdkIfhUbmgGuKYSJf48qOgnRePaZT5IxnWMeOfeCCyODps_ZjW4N3tQhAup51Hkjn_68hGIm/s4032/IMG_2254.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx8ZK4D3zHQjNNwjmKNynovMoSOGcrqwn71mMNdbGVM27l2twP7hFYwUQJq5OwxUME4IMNCZISysf-QdUDLtr7JKi1n-fEZe-oKwFSQOXeRP5oc0-1rtAXHdkIfhUbmgGuKYSJf48qOgnRePaZT5IxnWMeOfeCCyODps_ZjW4N3tQhAup51Hkjn_68hGIm/w400-h300/IMG_2254.heic" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03817098869249359344noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592717302897800561.post-69169576739654450282024-02-08T19:36:00.000-08:002024-02-08T19:36:42.122-08:00SRO on the TrainBack in November when the train was standing room only, I sketched the closest ones near me. Well, it was flat so put the emergency spare tire on and drove the car to Midas Tire Center in Port Chester last Saturday. I told them I need a replacement valve. Upon inspection, they found another tire with a faulty valve and also suggested replacing the rotors and brakes, too. Such was the problem with keeping older cars. It had to be done anyway so for the two hours they worked on my car, I found time to sketch-wait the repair job.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq26KcQuTZiHGrr3pKI-yqyD81nEP2hP_HV0qqRdunjrH_zHaXpXvoy7jzjF1K-NJ3cr69AY_qqfJ_7PUqKhcAz2T9m8NXBL4fKCYzm-SNV22h4pXK0Vd-7nXuMQT9EsJVONP5u_NYH8nofLI5NyPQbdWxwemu5sJhTC-vDCG4EPV_RS6_j9l_EqBL7WGk/s810/Jan-Sketch%207.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="573" data-original-width="810" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq26KcQuTZiHGrr3pKI-yqyD81nEP2hP_HV0qqRdunjrH_zHaXpXvoy7jzjF1K-NJ3cr69AY_qqfJ_7PUqKhcAz2T9m8NXBL4fKCYzm-SNV22h4pXK0Vd-7nXuMQT9EsJVONP5u_NYH8nofLI5NyPQbdWxwemu5sJhTC-vDCG4EPV_RS6_j9l_EqBL7WGk/w400-h283/Jan-Sketch%207.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This was Jeff who helped me with the repair job.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMV5K-fFnIgKyfONY4uTswmaTYO7M0ExGgPw2-FUtFmaWoiMjzg-0_6GjA9EMgRO0PZJiZlv7sGWD6mG8uA91hjS5YJ9uHX2YKHI-q4Z8Dm4sMl4YP8slwlCU4V6JaYtYseawzFzTqZogDivUm7vJrZ2aoyiHUWCC_LQ_aWVPPxG07WBvBikuPo28prA0p/s406/Jan-Sketch%208.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="402" data-original-width="406" height="396" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMV5K-fFnIgKyfONY4uTswmaTYO7M0ExGgPw2-FUtFmaWoiMjzg-0_6GjA9EMgRO0PZJiZlv7sGWD6mG8uA91hjS5YJ9uHX2YKHI-q4Z8Dm4sMl4YP8slwlCU4V6JaYtYseawzFzTqZogDivUm7vJrZ2aoyiHUWCC_LQ_aWVPPxG07WBvBikuPo28prA0p/w400-h396/Jan-Sketch%208.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><br /> <p></p>Melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03817098869249359344noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592717302897800561.post-52117518897579447822024-02-05T21:19:00.000-08:002024-02-05T21:19:08.415-08:00The Finished Sketch <p>Last week, on two occasions, I sketched from the same spot in the Grand Central Terminal, Lower Concourse. I saw a chance to sketch the dining scene a few days ago starting with the man with the headphones on. The sketch was done quickly and later improved upon. Two evenings later, I saw another opportunity to add to the first sketch. A couple had secured the next table and I was ready to sketch them. I had to approximate their positioning relative to the first sketch I made. I think it turned out ok. My plan is to keep coming back to the same spot and adding more people to this scene.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2xjZ3occAdb63f7GswEfCWYDSrCWTeXZZCo0TL2NMnf8W7lOwVneX_30P7Q9ASxvfjo1fD8P4HS6PB9lU0JccHBwtminiwE5Hvz3n43ZvEb5gV8MiLB5PHQO2i2X9k6bwAFhrox9ElqyH_pnz8aOAZ_pyvc_1RtFzDwpd9siIP-MZsNBTYk4lCJner6l0/s4032/IMG_2186.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2xjZ3occAdb63f7GswEfCWYDSrCWTeXZZCo0TL2NMnf8W7lOwVneX_30P7Q9ASxvfjo1fD8P4HS6PB9lU0JccHBwtminiwE5Hvz3n43ZvEb5gV8MiLB5PHQO2i2X9k6bwAFhrox9ElqyH_pnz8aOAZ_pyvc_1RtFzDwpd9siIP-MZsNBTYk4lCJner6l0/w300-h400/IMG_2186.HEIC" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYsvQAvmYtw-b8g4WxsaLo6TWyGiTl5A35K3-Sv7BgEGE981uvYr60qUoEnzL9pWEhwyYQy1ZYK-opyuXYc35ZxuzXB72bNJatwFz8ltEjSxqYcdJ_nctEI2O2nVkuv-wvjFKzTRyrWyGSccz8Dic_rqicjgAV1Q79Yl7c-Hsabm_Ki5ZxW_iKjCIs2pir/s4032/IMG_2185.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYsvQAvmYtw-b8g4WxsaLo6TWyGiTl5A35K3-Sv7BgEGE981uvYr60qUoEnzL9pWEhwyYQy1ZYK-opyuXYc35ZxuzXB72bNJatwFz8ltEjSxqYcdJ_nctEI2O2nVkuv-wvjFKzTRyrWyGSccz8Dic_rqicjgAV1Q79Yl7c-Hsabm_Ki5ZxW_iKjCIs2pir/w300-h400/IMG_2185.HEIC" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03817098869249359344noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592717302897800561.post-27274940582120947592024-02-01T19:42:00.000-08:002024-02-01T19:42:56.019-08:00A Sketching Class at SNFL<p>I have a very exciting news to share. On April 12, 2024, I will lead a class, <i>Sketching People in the City, </i>at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library (SNFL), 455 Fifth Avenue, NYC as part of their Free Programs offering called "Friday Night Sketch Club". In this class, I will share the things I've learned in sketching people. When I was a beginner sketcher, I always try to avoid introducing any human figure in my sketch. Why is that? you ask. Well, drawing the human figure was just difficult for me...until I made it my goal of drawing a respectable human figure someday. It took many hours of sketch practice and commitment to observing people on a daily basis. Now, it is less intimidating to actually introduce a human figure in my sketch practice. Here's the posted program announcement on the SNFL Bulletin Board I saw earlier this evening.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOPVS5nc_JlLIc4Um4dmO2YQy4uHU8mh-uOVN-OJSJle3Z1KuJ0TVivj4vQA8gNu7zT7IOHXHcoAB_PuShpDFrkkSV39qDBbekIYpDGUxaQri20yJVy3VjGvDNktUFZybqp558f8wfNOnp2nfamU3_Etw_r3T_-W_XcWZVlqJxQIbw-sM9K_1dipeFNexu/s4032/IMG_2173.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOPVS5nc_JlLIc4Um4dmO2YQy4uHU8mh-uOVN-OJSJle3Z1KuJ0TVivj4vQA8gNu7zT7IOHXHcoAB_PuShpDFrkkSV39qDBbekIYpDGUxaQri20yJVy3VjGvDNktUFZybqp558f8wfNOnp2nfamU3_Etw_r3T_-W_XcWZVlqJxQIbw-sM9K_1dipeFNexu/w300-h400/IMG_2173.heic" width="300" /></a></div><br /> <p></p>Melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03817098869249359344noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592717302897800561.post-43056522676522336982024-01-28T09:21:00.000-08:002024-01-28T09:21:33.004-08:00The Horseback Riders ClubOn our last day of stay with the family in SMDV, Madrid, my brothers and I went for a trail hike on the town's surrounding hills. It was a good walk for us and we had a good talk along the way. On the return home, we walked into a gathering of horseback riders club at a local cerveceria-tapas-raciones, El Paso, to which I immediately went into full urban sketcher mode. I pulled out my EDC sketchbook and a ballpoint pen to capture this wonderful event. It was clear that they were wrapping up their event for the day. Soon they loaded the horses into the equine trucks.<div><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNZMkixnp3sOMMJQfIwSKwcviDZhP1xTJfNCwVellY7vc7k_izcjGDb5bKTC9UwT2I2D2qjf8PHTaJ7OVWVoBMoYKYJ6nC_t2jNCgseaOqG14DCEubRhE20TvC48Rsoqj7k_CzxJfGI9Dqk6MI6rEZQuV30iUaG4Oi4EBclPXz81Ejt0K3A4RLevDs3DKJ/s4032/IMG_1992.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNZMkixnp3sOMMJQfIwSKwcviDZhP1xTJfNCwVellY7vc7k_izcjGDb5bKTC9UwT2I2D2qjf8PHTaJ7OVWVoBMoYKYJ6nC_t2jNCgseaOqG14DCEubRhE20TvC48Rsoqj7k_CzxJfGI9Dqk6MI6rEZQuV30iUaG4Oi4EBclPXz81Ejt0K3A4RLevDs3DKJ/w300-h400/IMG_1992.HEIC" width="300" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The equestrian gathering at El Paso Cerveceria-Tapas-Raciones. <br />My brother said this was the first he's seen in the many years they've lived in this neighborhood.</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgptRzFlQnqBFumVDY2GpmU4fpFTCLVzb0yUqABjeCuQ0ae9uP4L9Xw7e8ZsukC4oVsHWSIfeXa9OpXgLpd0jFPnxImyd_OYR2HIcH75w3-CIODdLUKa5v_UOsqRSZETeiw8eQb_YzAKZzudw9QWXHZa4Pe373JzgqX3O6PPIXvbXQe7X2Nf2kg1-ymp4DR/s4032/IMG_1995.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgptRzFlQnqBFumVDY2GpmU4fpFTCLVzb0yUqABjeCuQ0ae9uP4L9Xw7e8ZsukC4oVsHWSIfeXa9OpXgLpd0jFPnxImyd_OYR2HIcH75w3-CIODdLUKa5v_UOsqRSZETeiw8eQb_YzAKZzudw9QWXHZa4Pe373JzgqX3O6PPIXvbXQe7X2Nf2kg1-ymp4DR/w300-h400/IMG_1995.HEIC" width="300" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The equestrian seem to be waiting for something to happen. Morgan Tournament of Champions 2024 in Grand Central Terminal! For this annual tournament, they erected the glass-walled court and the bench seats in the back for the paid spectators. The Vanderbilt Hall venue couldn't be more grand and busier. Lots of pedestrian traffic from commuters and tourists alike. I did a couple of sketches on two different occasions before heading home from work. Each one was from a different point of view. It's nice to see them presented in a side by side format.<div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7uSLdwcTY63c2vi2mbj0HfF5Mj184YADjvpFmztzgFe-hIqIE6mhJSPtXWoClSrozsKYNNWuI1RMsxxoWNBK1grKj1psj0U6oKObaTaiuoqCwNbavLGMCo5o2uIj9TO09D9tmFXsnDXJOT53EUmXYjpYvXtp3ZLXfvlfos685GkZImb5i1vEv6fyLl9eo/s2100/IMG_2100.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1576" data-original-width="2100" height="208" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7uSLdwcTY63c2vi2mbj0HfF5Mj184YADjvpFmztzgFe-hIqIE6mhJSPtXWoClSrozsKYNNWuI1RMsxxoWNBK1grKj1psj0U6oKObaTaiuoqCwNbavLGMCo5o2uIj9TO09D9tmFXsnDXJOT53EUmXYjpYvXtp3ZLXfvlfos685GkZImb5i1vEv6fyLl9eo/w278-h208/IMG_2100.jpg" width="278" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtT7TEuTuvrasOFf0nM6uL0RIl0m3aIBBfG5kY7qZL6Dzh2xu2N4qTIMWbK99CYu1oyK-vCkqSiwxRBc1NF17DxE1StAs7tQAzW8xpn8dFQnnIWZTPuXQzqmihCAhzco90vdFuw71RV1EuncyaHkexbaF1c7iSP3r2l9ueMdtkVe_K_ZiMRQDy5-NtHiC0/s2100/IMG_2075.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1576" data-original-width="2100" height="210" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtT7TEuTuvrasOFf0nM6uL0RIl0m3aIBBfG5kY7qZL6Dzh2xu2N4qTIMWbK99CYu1oyK-vCkqSiwxRBc1NF17DxE1StAs7tQAzW8xpn8dFQnnIWZTPuXQzqmihCAhzco90vdFuw71RV1EuncyaHkexbaF1c7iSP3r2l9ueMdtkVe_K_ZiMRQDy5-NtHiC0/w280-h210/IMG_2075.jpg" width="280" /></a></div><br /><br /></div>Melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03817098869249359344noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592717302897800561.post-65482205210821515412024-01-16T20:34:00.000-08:002024-01-17T05:15:15.401-08:00The NYC USK Exhibition at the Philippine CenterLast month, on two different occasions, the NYC Urban Sketchers were invited by the Deputy Consul General, Adrian Cruz, to sketch at the Philippine Center on 5th Avenue, NYC. He and his artistically inclined daughter, Bianca, are both Urban Sketchers. A call for artwork submission was made and two weeks later, the Philippine Center took care of printing and framing the artworks which now hang at the center lobby. This exhibition also highlight the Philippine Center's 50th Celebration. I'm humbled to have my artwork chosen as the promotional image for the event announcement.<div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicNQj2-7a4aJ30NIjch5FkvRo1vasfhcD4jZFH0FE1l_G1TJR1aWBE6ebNo1nqN-qkpmcwXvH_vPNa_Whr2ZXQ1PKv_6vbJoPypUkLIB-QqeGJ2vxARtQmaNjryQVyMR751jPa8zPqg-vMBQ1BB9wiMgbixTCzNWEXddc7kkrABZAUZj6i5yeDKeF6dgjB/s1080/PastedGraphic-3.TIFF" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicNQj2-7a4aJ30NIjch5FkvRo1vasfhcD4jZFH0FE1l_G1TJR1aWBE6ebNo1nqN-qkpmcwXvH_vPNa_Whr2ZXQ1PKv_6vbJoPypUkLIB-QqeGJ2vxARtQmaNjryQVyMR751jPa8zPqg-vMBQ1BB9wiMgbixTCzNWEXddc7kkrABZAUZj6i5yeDKeF6dgjB/w400-h400/PastedGraphic-3.TIFF" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKNlcGRTg1f5YAA1r_EWRzKESGIU1-Iz5rnq0Tr9B7ccAqr8WQ5sAIE-2jpt3nWvEHjo2pADpLlM_dph4ltzXe_67xpEnqCMADss_qWVRf44rYkWBzPm22Vi2VKJSsWsaRCGIivvp6X3Q8vOY4ISQTRfL4NsV1q8AGfVhOSDtR9HmxyhcDokBODmP8E31Y/s4032/IMG_1940.HEIC" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKNlcGRTg1f5YAA1r_EWRzKESGIU1-Iz5rnq0Tr9B7ccAqr8WQ5sAIE-2jpt3nWvEHjo2pADpLlM_dph4ltzXe_67xpEnqCMADss_qWVRf44rYkWBzPm22Vi2VKJSsWsaRCGIivvp6X3Q8vOY4ISQTRfL4NsV1q8AGfVhOSDtR9HmxyhcDokBODmP8E31Y/w300-h400/IMG_1940.HEIC" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div><br /></div></div>Melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03817098869249359344noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592717302897800561.post-71984337020810406582024-01-11T20:34:00.000-08:002024-01-11T20:34:16.156-08:00The SPAMALOT Musical<p style="text-align: left;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 15px; white-space-collapse: preserve;"><span style="font-family: courier;">A little late but on Christmas Eve, we saw SPAMALOT, The Musical. I was using a hard tip Zebra brush pen because the lines are bolder and darker than the ballpoint pen I was very familiar with. Well, I noticed that I needed to slow down and look hard(er) to make a better representation of what I was sketching.<div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp-lN01QJgZdqyYk2YLd334UCGAwkDgwjvqcgThS8Y9hJVuzPqTgLMMu-oRoOmxI9X5iAMF3v9RlSxapLaFiLQGb2WlxLzv3V0BMmve9O2FP8Y4x-iThu3kAIDd7H5JUQXxaRtz-vfPd3bfluKMUILsme_s8CA1m5PDmqJb_TJy4ixmxWWz6GevA8ow81d/s4032/IMG_1819.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp-lN01QJgZdqyYk2YLd334UCGAwkDgwjvqcgThS8Y9hJVuzPqTgLMMu-oRoOmxI9X5iAMF3v9RlSxapLaFiLQGb2WlxLzv3V0BMmve9O2FP8Y4x-iThu3kAIDd7H5JUQXxaRtz-vfPd3bfluKMUILsme_s8CA1m5PDmqJb_TJy4ixmxWWz6GevA8ow81d/w300-h400/IMG_1819.HEIC" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div><br /></div></div>Melhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03817098869249359344noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592717302897800561.post-62632949065470970002023-12-31T18:22:00.000-08:002023-12-31T18:22:43.335-08:00New Year's Eve DayOn this very last day of the year, Anne and I visited the Untermyer Gardens Conservancy in Yonkers, NY. We were amazed at the beautiful sights and scenery at this location. Fortunately, the weather was pleasant and not too cold for outdoor sketching. At the Vista Overlook, I sketched the Ruin Garden and the mighty Hudson River and the Palisades bluffs in the background. Then we walked over to the Temple of Love. I was looking straight at it when I did the sketch. Finally, when it got a bit colder due to the wind, we left for some good Ramen lunch in Hartsdale, NY and an afternoon coffee at Coffee Labs in Tarrytown, NY where I did a sketch of the crowd before me.
