Sketcher Spotlight - Drawing Attention March 2023
Cathy Gutterman, a wonderful DA correspondent, proposed to write a piece about my regular daily commute sketching and it was accepted to be featured in the March 2023 issue of Drawing Attention, the official zine publication of the Urban Sketcher organization.
Suffice it to say that I was giddy with delight upon the e-zine publication today! Such a great honor to appear in the Sketcher Spotlight section of the Urban Sketcher's Drawing Attention March 2023 e-zine issue. Thank you so much, Cathy, and the DA at Urban Sketchers!

The Lady and a Shih Tzu dog
I looked at the center clock and it was about 6:18pm. Got 12 minutes to spare before I head out to Track 19 this evening. A nice subject to sketch is this lady with a Shih Tzu dog pet. I was attracted to the dog and the lady not minding the good dog. She was trying to fiddle with her phone at the bridge toward the Main Concourse from the Vanderbilt Hall. I planted myself at the corner edge of the the Hudson River Line ticket counters section. Lucky me, she moved over next to my spot! Sketched the dog first then her. Added the arch and distant entryway last.

Sketchwaiting....at the MD Office
I scheduled two MD appointments yesterday; one in the morning and one in the afternoon. This dapper gentleman was waiting for his morning appointment too at the ENT office in Stamford. I noticed his cane and that was where I started this sketch. Soon after, I was called in to be seen by my doctor.

The Mother and daughter on the 8:48am train
On Wednesday, I had another chance to sketch the same mother and daughter I sketched two weeks ago. This time, I made sure that I gifted it to her instead. She was very much surprised and happy to keep it.

A young English family
I boarded the train to Grand Central Terminal at Harrison station and found a vacant two seater across from this young English family of four. I find it pleasurable to hear the British accent in their normal conversation and seeing them engaged together the whole trip.
