A week ago, Anne and I drove up to Falmouth, MA for a weekend getaway and celebration. We left house early Saturday morning for brunch at the Mystic Diner before heading toward our final destination. We stayed at a nice B&B place, took an afternoon walk at the Spohr Gardens and had an early dinner at an Italian restaurant on Main Street. The following morning, we ate the included Continental Breakfast at the Frederick William House before checking out of the B&B. We made two stops along the way before driving back home. The first one was at the Nobska Lighthouse and the other was at the Edward Gorey House Museum in Yarmouth, MA. So glad we had a fun getaway trip.

Sketch at the Ukrainian Museum
I've never been to this museum before so I joined the NYC USk group last weekend for some sketching fun. Glad to find the collection of Pysanki Easter Eggs at the basement level where they have them displayed in glass showcases among other cultural things from Ukraine. When I got tired of sketching the Easter eggs, I went for the other Urban Sketchers in my line of sight.

The corner store on Madison Avenue and 39th Street
The Fresh Kitchen food place finally opened at its new location last week. Previously, they were just across on the other side of Madison Avenue. I noticed they have an eat-in area by the window facing the street so I took a spot and sketched this scene.

The Show at the Tarrytown Music Hall
The Manhattan Transfer is doing a 50th Anniversary and Farewell Tour show. I scored our tickets to see it at the Tarrytown Music Hall last Saturday evening. After getting seated 15 minutes before the show, I immediately went to work on my sketch. During the intermission, I continued adding to the scene I had captured earlier. Once we got home, I finished adding some more hatching lines and darkened some spots in the drawing. It was a great show for I had fond memories associated with their music.
