In September last year, I did my first Camino walk from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela and was hooked! It was a totally different experience, hard to describe, but I knew I wanted to do another this year on a similar distance to Santiago. Initially, I was interested in last 100km of the Portuguese Camino starting from Tui but decided it was better to walk the last 107 km of Via de la Plata Camino from Ourense.
From Madrid, I took the high-speed train to Ourense for about two hours and fifteen minutes on April 26. At Ourense station, I sampled the Menu del Dia in the small restaurant. It would be another three and half hours before I got to check in at my Airbnb rental place. I found a spot where I could sketch the antique locomotive just outside the station. Then it was a leisurely walk over the Puente Romano de Ourense bridge to get to the old town in the hilly section of the city. Made a stop at at a local outdoor shop called Decathlon to buy the hiking poles and some power bars for this journey.

Welcome back! I've been thinking about you since FB keeps giving me posts on people walking the Camino. Looks like you got off to a good start...a sketch and dinner.
