This is one of those mind-boggling prompts for #inktober2018.   

Model sketching

It's fun to do the live model drawing so upon learning of the Silvermine Open Studio drawing classes in New Canaan, CT, I checked it out last Wednesday.  The three hour class was barely just in session when I first walked inside Studio 1.  Five sketchers were there.  One of them using the larger iPad Pro while the rest had 18x24in drawing pads on easels.  Mine was the 6.25x10in sketchbook.

Mostly drawn with Muji Mechanical pencil 0.3mm HB lead.  Model Sara executed beautiful poses.  Very challenging but I enjoyed it a lot!  The ghostly scans were due to the back-to-back page drawings I made.  Now I know not to sketch on the back page next time.

2-5 minutes each, 2B pencil.

Inktober 10: Flowing

I could just have recycled the entry I made the other day with water flowing out of the faucet but to make it fresh, I sketched the corner of a pool with water flowing and bouncing off the tiled wall.  At least, make the suggestion that it is anyway.

Inktober 09: Precious

Well, I thought a sketch of the water flowing out of the curved faucet spout would be a nice suggestion for the Day 9 Inktober prompt.  After I finished sketching the curved spout, I let the water flow out of the faucet just enough to see how it looks and get an idea how to sketch the water.  This I repeated two times.  I assure you responsible water management applied here in sketching it.  All in all, I clocked the ballpoint sketching at 00:51:52 from start to finish.

Inktober 08: Star

Okay, this prompt is a bit easier to find in the wild.  I saw a bottle of San Pellegrino and noticed the red star.  Perfect!  Only 23 more days left before this inktober (ballpoint) challenge is over.

Inktober 07: Exhausted

The inktober prompt for Day 7 was exhausted.  For sure I know I'm exhausted but how to sketch that onto paper?  Scratch that idea!  How about writing squiggly lines until I exhaust all the ink?  Maybe...

After walking the dog, it dawned on me to check the container of spent batteries I keep for recycling.  Presto!  AAA Battery (2017) without any charge left - exhausted - for sure!

NYC USk Outing

Yesterday's weather was a bit cool, grey, and cloudy but good enough for sketching in Greenwich, CT.  I met the eight urban sketchers that arrived on the 10:32 train from the city and one who drove  up from Mamaroneck, NY.  Together, we walked toward the Greenwich Harbor.  The plan was to sketch the harbor side in the morning and sketch the mid-lower part of the Avenue in the afternoon.  

Another group of urban sketchers, about eight of them, got there earlier and took positions at the Roger Sherman Baldwin Park, right at the opposite side of the harbor where our group were.  It was where I chose to make this one sketch.  Soon it was lunch time and we still had some late comers show up.   Unfortunately, some sketchers couldn't stay for the afternoon session.  This was the third year I've hosted the event and it seem to grow in attendance each year.  At 3:00 pm, the "Show and Tell" portion was held at the Eastend restaurant.  Thank you to those of you who participated yesterday.  As Mark would always say, "Let's do this again!"  Hopefully, same time next year.
