The original line work was fine but I wanted to practice adding colors to my sketches. Here are the two versions.

#62 Pearl Street, NYC
Parking in NYC is still difficult even on a Sunday especially the downtown area where I wanted to park at a nearby church neighborhood. Alas, I found one spot but it was quite a distance from the church where I dropped off my visiting relatives from TN to attend a Sunday Mass. I wouldn't mind waiting as long as I have a sketchbook at hand. This was the scene where I parked my car.

Coney Island Beach: Part II
This was actually the first sketch I did while on the Coney Island Beach boardwalk but it sat for several days at home until I added some greyscale lines using Tombow markers. Then this evening I wanted to add some blue color to the sky. I pictured in my mind the easier way to get a wet-on-wet effect is to water spray mist the part and splash the color. Well, to my nightmare, the second the mist interacted with the grey lines, the bleeding oozed everywhere! It was surreal to watch it but there was no turning back. I tried to brush it off but no use. In the end, I came to accept the happy accident. It wasn't what I had in mind but hey.....
The eerie after-effects of desiring that blue sky color. |

The Coney Island Beach
It's the Labor Day holiday weekend and Sunday was a great day to head out to Coney Island Beach. I took the time to explore a little bit of this famous beach and play land complete with thrill rides and fun stuff to do. One day is not enough to have fun sketching here.

The incessant typist
I recognized her from a previous time we were on the same train car. That time, she was seated directly across from me. What made her stood out that time was the full headset gear she had on, the fashion accessories on her hands and fingers, the incessant blind typing done on the Apple Magic Keyboard 2. Her iPad securely locked between her forearm, propped upright, face-down, against her chest. She would occasionally stop for a quick glance on the iPad screen maybe to read/edit what she had typed before resuming the process again. It was no different this time except that I was seated across the aisle of the same row which allowed me to discreetly sketch her.
After we de-trained at Grand Central Terminal, I decided I would show her the sketch. And why not? Great that I caught up with Theresa, I would later learn her name, because it would not be the same had I miss this one chance. She smiled and thought it was a beautiful sketch. Theresa took a picture of it with my permission. And that was how my Friday morning started.
